*Sabal domingensis, common name: 3 Hispaniola Palmetto *An incredibly tough and versatile Sabal from the Islands of the Dominican Republic and Cuba. Growing at altitudes of 3000 feet, these are quite cold hardy, down to 10 degrees farenheit. Leaves are wonderfully large, deeply split, and tinged with the characteristic Sabal blue. An extremely easy and rewarding palm to grow. *Expect this palm to grow fairly quickly, pushing new leaves regularly, leaves somewhat glaucous blue in color(even seedlings display a tinge of blue). Easily capable of handling a wide range of growing conditions, in short, not finicky about soils, and well accustomed to wide temperature ranges. Equally at home in full sun, or shade, where leaves will tend to grow longer. We are very excited about these as this Sabal allows another marvelous option for those in the especially cold challenged states. Again, cold hardy to 10 degrees farenheit! *You are bidding on (3) lush green palms, approximately 5-10 inches tall, with 2-3 leaves, and a healthy root system.***Ready for a 1 gallon container.*** *To SAVE on PLANTS and SHIPPING, check out our BUY 3 and SAVE *For more great deals on rare plants, Visit My eBay Store: Coconut Climber ***Most of our plants have been cold tested down to 40 degrees farenheit or lower, creating a much stronger, hardier, and tougher plant. ---BEWARE---Avoid palms grown in HAWAII, or very tropical locations, where they have never experienced any cold, will often die during transport, or from weather shock. Palms from locations like Hawaii can take several months to a year to acclimate from very tropical growing conditons, if ever. It is best to avoid these weaker untested tropical grown plants*** *Once palms arrive, they will benefit from being kept in a 1 gallon container, slightly moist, warm, and in a fast draining soil, such as Supersoil, or a quality Cactus-Mix(available at any Home Improvement or local Nursery Supply Center). Any of the following ingredients such as pumice, small bark chips, perlite, wood shavings, vermiculite, and coarse sand can all be used to benefit good drainage. These plants typically favor shade, filtered sun, or morning/late afternoon sun until established(approximately 6-8 leaves, and 12-16 inches in height), then they can be acclimated into full sun. These palms should be planted at a soil height just slightly above(approx 1/2 inch above) where the roots graduate from the base. Whether you are a 'green thumb' or a beginner, these are easy palms to grow, and will beautify your landscape. *All palms are shipped bare-root, packed with the roots blanketed in moist sphagnum moss and wrapped in bundles surrounded with aluminum foil to ensure the best health for the plants. Shipping is via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail, shipped on Monday or Tuesday, arriving in 1-3 days. *If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Or, if you are looking for other palms, rare, unique, or common, let us know as we grow over a 200 species from seed.
